October 10, 2022 - Flying to Syracuse and back |
Today mission: Lynnette and I fly to Syracuse, have lunch with Lynnette's niece and sister, then fly home. Weather looks pretty good. Here we are heading north crossing the Susquehanna River at the town of Berwick, Pennsylvania.
Passing over a huge plateau in the great bend of the Susquehanna River. As you can see, the color is peak in the higher altitude of the plateau.
Crossing the Susquehanna River again.
Approaching Syracuse. Interestate 81 can be seen below heading north to the city.
More color as we head into Syracuse.
Syracuse has Class C airspace so I had to talk to approach control coming in. They had me turn east for awhile and then follow a jet airliner in. Here I'm on a long final for runway 28.
Parked on the ramp at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. As you can see, this is a happening airport.
The FBO is named "Million Air". Nice.
Bruce & Ellen, Jayson and Emily picked us up and we had a nice lunch at a BBQ place in downtown Syracuse.
Then we got to see Jayson & Emily's little house. Very nice.
Soon we were heading south. We were able to climb above a scattered layer and find smooth air.
Approaching the big plateau again. I think it only took a little less than an hour and a half for each one-way flight. Not bad at all. All in all it was a fun day. |
